Holiday Art Market review - Boneshaker Bags

Did you know that a bike used to be called a boneshaker? Joan was working hard next to me, selling her bike bags. They strap onto your handlebars instead of a basket. She does some cool embroidery too. Check out her shop for more bags and backpacks!

dog days of summer

Aah, summer is here! We went to our favorite beach in elberta, which is dog-friendly! F brought his snacks in a drawstring bag made from vintage fabric. His sun hat used to be T's shirt. It was a Ben Sherman shirt that T bought in the first week we were dating. T's brother and friend went shopping with us and helped him pick out some new clothes, and he spend hours in the fitting room. Amazing. Good memories, in the past and in the making!

What are you doing this summer?

custom knitting bag for melissa

So here it is. It's a little different than my usual designs, but it was what M wanted with separate sides, chock full of pockets and other features. You can see my notes about the design as we worked it out together, including the dimensions.
There is a sleeve inside to hold a water bottle, a large zippered pocket for a file folder or pattern, a side pocket for a book, soft corduroy pockets along the back and a key hook. On the front, a large pocket and vintage button with an elastic loop closure. On the back, an embroidered knitting basket.
I hope you love it, Melissa!

custom knitting bag for melissa

Here's how a bag starts... A great mix of new and recycled fabrics, placed together, to see which will be just right for the finished bag. Size, texture, color and pattern are all important.

A. Green denim for the body, flocked brown denim for the base and straps and a sweet velvet print pocket
B. Waxed canvas body, mustard denim for base and straps, with a vintage pillowcase for a pocket
